The Problem
When a major site had a drive failure leaving them without the ability to pump away storm water they turned to APDS to solve the problem. Temperature issues within the building and ventilation problems within the cubicle caused the inverter to fail leaving the site and indeed the local area vulnerable to flooding. As the Environment Agency closely monitored the site a solution had to be found within 24 hours. APDS’s rapid response team visited the site to assess the needs and to see whether the drive could be repaired quickly. After examining the possibilities it was decided that the only solution would be a hire drive whilst the Low Harmonic Inverter currently installed was repaired.
The Results
The picture right shows a 90kW inverter mounted on a wheeled frame. It comes complete with input and output cables and a separate control box. A line contactor is built in to the inverter for simple integration to the existing control scheme.
Our fleet comprises units from 11–400kW 6-pulse and up to 75kW low harmonic.
Hire drives can be custom made to suit the application and integrated into an existing control solution. APDS offer an installation and commissioning service to ensure that the drive meets the customer needs. All of this is backed by our dedicated response team available 24/7 for your continuing peace of mind.
Industrial drives
ABB industrial drives are designed for industrial applications, and especially for applications in process industries such as the pulp & paper, metals, mining, cement, power, chemical, and oil & gas.
ABB industrial drives are available both as complete AC drives and as modules to meet the requirements of the users, OEMs and system integrators. These drives are highly flexible AC drives that can be configured to meet the precise needs of industrial applications, and hence order-based configuration is an integral part of the offering.
