ABB Event at City College Plymouth Hailed a Tremendous Success

We were very proud to be involved with ABB’s recent collaboration with City College Plymouth and bring their Innovation and Technology Day to the South West. The day was a tremendous success; attended by over 100 delegates from across the region. Attendees included representatives from local industries, the Plymouth Manufacturers Group, students and staff from both City College and South Devon College, plus the local media.

The team from ABB, led by Dave Hughes who is UK & Ireland Division Manager for Robotics and Motion, presented on a wide range of topics which included robotics and the technology for the future, process improvement and energy saving. In between presentations there was an opportunity for delegates to network and try out some of the new technologies for themselves.
APDS were on hand throughout the day to talk to people and answer questions on how ABB Inverter Drives and Motors can improve processes and save energy.
The feedback received has been very positive, Chris Truscott from Imerys told us,
“The entire day was an invaluable overview of the industry as a whole – both of the current trends and where it is heading in the near future. Not only this, but it provided the understanding and driving factors of WHY the industry is changing. There were practical examples to demonstrate the principals in real-life situations that you can apply to your own company. The technical knowledge was thorough without being excessive or unnecessary and it was presented in a way that was easily understandable. It’s important that it was presented by the people that have an in-depth knowledge of their products and this shows when you have questions as they can answer them because they are not just involved in marketing.

The day was a very professional event and structured incredibly well. Perfect length and hospitality was great too. It was a very worthwhile day to attend. Thank you again for the invite and please let me know of other events like that. It’s good to see what the industry is doing on a broader scale as you do have a very real risk of “we’ve always done it that way” occurring sometimes. It’s nice to be able to leave the seminar thinking about new and better ways of doing things.”

Our work with businesses across the South West region is important to us and to be able to help organise an event of this magnitude was a privilege; a fantastic way to end 2017.
